But according to Deadline, this project is based on an original idea by Ryan and Kristin Engle, with Ryan also writing the script. So basically, someone woke up and said, “You know what the world needs? A movie starring two ridiculously good-looking people,” and here we are.
Even more exciting? Regé-Jean’s schedule is busier than a tourist in Rome, because this news comes hot on the heels of his casting in The Count of Monte Cristo. That’s right—he’s about to be the lead in an epic revenge story and co-star in Italianna. He’s collecting leading roles like they’re stamps on a passport.
What will Italianna be about? Maybe Halle and Regé-Jean will be rival gelato shop owners in a battle for dessert dominance. Maybe they’ll be international spies using Italian cuisine as cover.
