Tonight’s the night Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor are swan-diving into Broadway like they’ve never swanned or dived before! That’s right, these two fresh-faced stars are slipping into the tragically fabulous shoes of Romeo and Juliet in the brand-spankin’-new Sam Gold production of “Romeo + Juliet.” And by new, we mean 400+ years old, but with a twist—this time, it comes with a playlist by none other than Jack Antonoff! Yes, Shakespeare and Bleachers… because why not?
The curtains rise for the previews tonight (September 26), with the official “we’re totally not winging it anymore” opening night on October 24. But wait, there’s more! This time around, you’re not just a passive observer of teenage hormonal chaos—oh no. A limited number of floor seats are available, meaning you could be close enough to catch some serious Shakespearean spit (don’t worry, it’s historically accurate).
Joining Zegler and Connor in this epic production are Tommy Dorfman, who’s doing double duty as Tybalt and The Nurse. Yes, you heard that right—Tybalt and The Nurse. Get ready for sword-fighting and ointment-application, probably not at the same time. Then we have Gabby Beans, who is single-handedly propping up the roles of Mercutio, The Friar, and Prince Escalus. Beans clearly likes a challenge, or maybe just a lot of costume changes. Either way, give that person a Tony already.
The show runs until February 16, 2025, so you’ve got a few months to find a time machine, get back to 1597, and brush up on your Elizabethan English before snagging those floor seats. But seriously, act fast because these tickets are hotter than Romeo at a masquerade ball!
