The Californian melodrama starring pop producer extraordinaire Diplo (aka Thomas Wesley Pentz) and his legal nemesis, Shelly Auguste, is back for another encore – and this one’s even more dramatic than a key change in a power ballad!
In a plot twist that’s juicier than a pineapple on a pizza, Shelly Auguste is pointing fingers at Diplo, accusing him of engaging in the not-so-harmonious act of distributing revenge porn. Yep, you heard it right – revenge porn, the scandalous remix of a failed relationship.
This isn’t Shelly’s first rodeo in the legal circus with Diplo. The pair has been locked in a legal tango since 2020, and this time, Shelly is cranking up the volume with a fresh accusation filed with the Los Angeles Police Department. According to Shelly, Diplo allegedly hit her with a surprise drop – nude pics without her consent. Talk about a remix gone wrong!
The legal tracklist includes hits like sexual battery, gender violence, intentional intrusion into private affairs, battery, assault, defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and fraud. We’re not making this up – it’s like a legal buffet with all the fixings, including the violation of the Ralph Civil Rights Act and the Tom Bane Civil Rights Act. Somebody get these folks a trophy for the most diverse legal menu ever.
Mark your calendars for the grand showdown because the civil trial is scheduled for April 2024. It’s bound to be a spectacle, with more drama than a Real Housewives reunion – and possibly even more lawsuits!
In the previous episode of “Diplo vs. Shelly,” our DJ hero labeled Shelly as “dangerously unstable.” It seems like the only thing more dangerous than a bass drop is Shelly on a mission. Diplo countersued with allegations of stalking, trespassing, and the unauthorized distribution of his private materials. It’s a legal dance-off, and the crowd can’t decide if they should sway or dodge.
To add some spice to the mix, Shelly snagged a temporary restraining order against Diplo in September, and it got extended to December 2023. That’s right, Diplo – no more dropping surprise beats in Shelly’s direction until the end of the year. It’s the legal equivalent of a musical timeout.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Shelly took center stage, declaring, “I think it’s time the music industry stops enabling the perpetual abuse that occurs. I have been silenced for far too long.” Someone get this woman a spotlight and a microphone because she’s ready to drop some truth bombs.
Diplo’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, fired back in true legal rockstar fashion, telling Pitchfork, “For more than three years, Shelly Auguste has been orchestrating an ongoing smear campaign against Wes – and this is just more of the same.” It’s like he’s describing a never-ending remix of legal battles, and we’re all stuck on repeat.
Hold tight, party people! The beats may be dropping in the club, but in the courtroom, it’s all legal crescendos and dramatic pauses. Who will emerge victorious in this musical legal showdown? Tune in next time for more legal shenanigans, more restraining orders, and probably more accusations. This drama has more twists and turns than a DJ’s soundboard!
