Bond. James Bond. Or… Aslan? The White Witch’s long-lost boyfriend? That one fawn that wears a scarf year-round? We don’t know yet, but what we do know is that Daniel Craig has reportedly been offered a role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Chronicles of Narnia adaptation for Netflix!
According to Deadline, Netflix has slid an offer across the metaphorical (or possibly literal) table to the Knives Out star, hoping to lure him into the magical world of talking beavers and wardrobe-based teleportation. But will he accept? That remains a mystery as deep as the contents of Mr. Tumnus’ tea cupboard.
Craig is the second name linked to the project, following last week’s delightful curveball of Charli XCX being in talks for a role. Yes, you read that right. Charli XCX in Narnia. If we don’t get a synth-heavy remix of Turkish Delight (Boom Clap Edition) out of this, what are we even doing here?
The film is still in its early stages, but Netflix has already set a release date, proving that they are moving full steam ahead into the wardrobe, whether we’re ready or not. As for director Greta Gerwig, she previously admitted she is “terrified” to take on the project. Honestly, same, Greta. Same.
Will Daniel Craig trade in his martinis for some cordial and a side of Edmund’s terrible decision-making? Will Charli XCX be the first pop star to drop a Narnia-themed banger? Will Mr. Tumnus finally get some pants? Only time will tell.
