Hold onto your basketballs, because Brittney Griner and her wife Cherelle just became the MVPs of parenthood! That’s right, this dynamic duo has added a tiny teammate to their roster.
In an interview with CBS Sports on Friday, Brittney, the towering 33-year-old basketball sensation, dropped the mic with some game-changing news: she and Cherelle welcomed their first bundle of joy earlier this month! No press conference needed – just pure joy and baby cuddles.
Now, while Brittney played it cool and didn’t reveal the baby’s name, she did share that their little champ arrived on July 8, tipping the scales at 7 pounds, 8 ounces. “That’s my man. He is amazing,” Brittney gushed, her smile wider than the Grand Canyon. “They said as soon as you see them, everything you thought mattered just goes out the window. Well, those folks weren’t lying!”
However, life isn’t all diaper changes and lullabies. Brittney confessed that it’s a bummer to leave her newborn for the 2024 WNBA All-Star weekend in Phoenix and the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. But hey, even superheroes need to save the day, right?
“He will understand,” Brittney assured, before joking about her newfound baby obsession. “My whole phone has turned into a shrine for him now.”
And guess what? This little guy is already breaking records! Brittney revealed that he’ll be calling her “Pops.” Just imagine the epic father-son dunking contests in their future!
Brittney and Cherelle’s love story is a slam dunk too. They first met at Baylor University over a decade ago, from 2009 to 2013. But it wasn’t until years later that they realized they were a match made in basketball heaven. Fast forward to June 2019, and they were walking down the aisle, after Brittney’s epic proposal nearly a year earlier.
Their love story hit another milestone in April when they announced they were expecting. And now, their family has grown by one tiny but mighty player.
