Fans were flabbergasted when, mid-interview, Ariana Grande decided to play a game of “Guess Which Voice is Mine?” transitioning from low to high faster than a caffeinated chipmunk on a rollercoaster.
Throughout most of the Penn Badgley-hosted Podcrushed interview, Ariana was channeling her inner Disney princess with a voice so high it probably made glass shatter in a neighboring city. Then, out of nowhere, she dropped to a lower tone, making everyone wonder if she’d suddenly been possessed by a baritone opera singer.
Naturally, this clip skyrocketed to viral status faster than a cat video on the internet, and Ariana had to swoop in to save the day before the internet conspiracies ran wild.
Seeing the frenzy unfold on TikTok, Ariana chimed in to clarify the situation. “habit (speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health 🙂 i intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often depending on how much singing i’m doing 😭 i’ve always done this BYE,” she commented, casually mic-dropping her explanation.
She’s probably talking about her Glinda voice for her role in Wicked with that “two years” reference. So, no, she isn’t secretly a ventriloquist or auditioning for a new Muppets character; she’s just a vocal chameleon keeping her pipes in tip-top shape.
