Anya Taylor-Joy is eyeing a Disney musical, and frankly, the world might not be ready for the frosty chaos she’s planning to unleash.
In an interview that probably made Disney execs nervously clutch their snow globes, the 28-year-old Golden Globe winner confessed that her “dream” role would be playing none other than Queen Elsa — you know, the ice-shooting, mountain-singing powerhouse from Frozen. Apparently, if Disney ever decides to thaw out the idea of a live-action Frozen, Anya’s ready to belt out Let It Go with a level of drama that might just cause actual avalanches.
“I really want to do a musical because I’m currently way too into my job,” she revealed to Vogue Hong Kong in a statement that probably made all her other roles awkwardly shuffle away in shame. “I love the challenge of doing impossible things. Singing, dancing, and acting at the same time? That’s like the Olympics of being extra! Count me in!”
Oh, but it gets better. “I think Frozen is going to be amazing. I mean, shooting ice cubes out of your hands? That’s got ‘fun at parties’ written all over it,” Anya said, clearly thinking ahead to all the birthday party gigs where she’ll be the ultimate ice-breaker. Plus, she’s ready to be the cool aunt (literally): “All my siblings have kids now, and I’d love for them to brag like, ‘Yeah, Aunt Elsa’s coming to Thanksgiving. No big deal.’”
If you’re suddenly picturing Anya at a family gathering, casually turning mashed potatoes into a winter wonderland with a flick of her wrist, you’re not alone.
For those who’ve been living under a rock or perhaps a snowdrift, Frozen first graced us with its icy majesty back in 2013, and six years later, in 2019, it returned with a sequel that made every kid demand to build a snowman for at least three weeks straight.
Now, while Disney hasn’t confirmed they’re going to turn Frozen into a live-action ice-capade, they have announced that Frozen III will hit theaters in 2027! So, buckle up — we’re in for at least another decade of trying to get “Let It Go” unstuck from our brains. Meanwhile, Anya’s probably out there practicing her ice-cube-shooting skills. Watch out, world.
