Alec Baldwin claims that Melania Trump loves his impression of her husband, former President Donald Trump. Yes, you read that right. While Trump himself has been fuming like an overcooked steak about Baldwin’s Saturday Night Live impression for years, Melania, allegedly, has been kicking back with popcorn, giggling at every exaggerated sniff and dramatic hand gesture.
During a recent event at 92nd Street Y, Baldwin, 66, spilled the tea, claiming that former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer—who is basically a human stress ball—once let it slip that Melania was a huge fan of his Trump impersonation. And not just a casual chuckle-here-and-there kind of fan. No, no. She lived for it.
“Spicer—maybe he had a couple of drinks, I don’t know; I wasn’t there,” Baldwin dished, according to Page Six. “He tells the people at SNL, ‘Melania watches the show every Saturday night. And she points at the TV and says, “That’s what he’s like! That is what he’s like! Exactly! Alec Baldwin is exactly like Donald!”’”
Imagine it: Melania in her silk pajamas, sipping tea, nodding in agreement as Baldwin perfectly mimics her husband’s hand motions, squinting expressions, and… let’s call them creative interpretations of the English language.
“We were gagging laughing,” Baldwin continued. “But it made sense! She loves when they give it to him, you know what I mean?”
Baldwin played Trump on SNL from 2016 to 2020, earning an Emmy in 2017 and probably an eternal spot on Trump’s personal “Enemies List” (right between CNN and low-flush toilets).
While Melania, allegedly, finds Baldwin’s impression spot-on and highly entertaining, Trump himself has made his feelings crystal clear over the years—he hates it. He’s called Baldwin’s impression “terrible,” “unfunny,” and once even rage-tweeted that Baldwin’s career was “dead.”
Dead? Hardly. Baldwin’s Trump impression won awards, praise, and, apparently, the silent but deeply satisfied approval of one particular Trump. And really, isn’t that the ultimate plot twist?
