Adele recently spilled the beans that while belting out chart-toppers is her gig, deep down, she dreams of being the ultimate TV script wizard.
In a sidesplitting chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the queen of soulful tunes spilled, “So, here’s the thing – my dream job is to be a script reader. Yeah, you heard it right, a script reader. Cue the laughter, because apparently, folks think I’m cracking jokes.”
She went on, “I often turn to my manager and go, ‘You know what? I could totally whip up some killer scripts and be a total boss at it.’ And he just looks at me like I’ve lost my mind. I mean, can you blame him?”
Adele confessed, “Look, music just kinda happened to me. I fell into it like I trip over my own feet. But deep down, I want to be the puppet master behind the TV scenes.”
With a glint in her eye, the Hello hitmaker spilled, “Imagine reading a script – mind-blowing, right? By the way, did you know Sherry Lansing, the big shot at MGM, started as a math teacher? Yeah, math! And then boom, head script reader. That’s the dream.”
Recently, Adele was bestowed with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment bash on December 7, a prestigious honor that has graced the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, and Viola Davis.
Asked about rubbing shoulders with these legends, Adele cheekily remarked, “It’s bonkers. I’ve always hung out with cool cats in the music world, but this? This is like being the odd one out at a fancy party. The list of past winners is nuts – and let’s not forget, I actually knew who Sherry Lansing is. For her to think of me in any way is just downright hilarious.”
