Victoria Monét brought the house down and made jaws drop faster than a clumsy juggler at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday (June 30) at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
This 35-year-old singing sensation started her performance with her song “On My Mama,” strutting her stuff and hitting notes so high they probably registered with dogs in the next county. Then, she slid seamlessly into her latest single, “Alright,” changing outfits faster than a chameleon in a bag of Skittles – three times in total!
The second outfit was a show-stopper, channeling the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, in a look from his “Smooth Criminal” music video. Imagine the exact opposite of the black outfit she rocked in her own “Alright” video. Got it? Yeah, she nailed it.
But wait, there’s more! Victoria didn’t just slay the stage; she also raked in the awards like a pro at a carnival game. She snagged the BET HER award for “On My Mama,” and in a heartwarming twist, she brought her actual mama on stage to accept it with her. Cue the collective “aww” from the audience.
As if one shiny trophy wasn’t enough, she also bagged the Video of the Year award for the same song. Someone, please get this woman a bigger shelf!
The excitement didn’t stop there. Victoria returned to the stage to join a tribute performance for Usher’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Talk about a multitasking queen!
