Tyler Perry’s First Netflix Comedy Has Arrived – And It’s Giving Politics, Sass, and Chaos in Heels!

Buy Me A Coffee

Tyler Perry is about to take over your Netflix queue with his first ever comedy series for the streamer, and it’s called Tyler Perry’s She the People — because clearly, “She” has had enough and is now running for office.

The trailer just dropped and it’s already giving “Scandal meets Madea” energy — minus the wine-swilling Olivia Pope, and plus a whole lotta hilarious drama. Perry, aka the multitasking king of Hollywood, co-created, wrote, directed, AND produced the series — basically doing everything except catering the craft services table (though we wouldn’t put it past him).

Terri J Vaughn takes center stage as Antoinette Dunkerson — yes, that’s the character’s real name and no, we are not worthy — a woman who just snagged the role of Lieutenant Governor and now has to deal with the absolute circus that is politics… and family… and a governor who thinks sexism is a personality trait. (Sir, please log off.)

If you thought politics were messy before, just wait ‘til you see Antoinette trying to keep her family in check now that they’ve all become TMZ bait. Thanksgiving dinner just became a press conference, and her teenage kids are probably getting verified on Instagram faster than she can pass a bill.

Joining the madness are Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, Dyon Brooks, and the legendary Jo Marie Payton, who’s basically the Beyoncé of sitcom royalty. Honestly, the cast is stacked like Antoinette’s stress levels.

Mark your calendars like they’re campaign flyers:
📺 Part One of She the People drops on May 22 — just in time for you to cancel your plans and binge-watch.
📺 Part Two struts in on August 14, which gives you exactly 84 days to emotionally prepare.

There’s drama. There’s tea. There’s politics. There’s Tyler Perry. And yes, she the people is about to serve legislative laughs hotter than your Auntie’s mac and cheese at a family cookout.

Now go watch that trailer and practice your best “I approve this message” face.
