Troye Sivan’s Existential Crisis About Turning 30, Plus Why Charli XCX Is His Ride-or-Die

Buy Me A Coffee

Troye Sivan is this close to hitting the big 3-0, and he’s feeling some kind of way about it. The “One of Your Girls” singer, who turns 30 in June, confessed that he had a full-on meltdown about aging when he was 27—because, obviously, that’s when life comes at you fast.

In a recent interview, Troye revealed his deepest, darkest fear about aging, got philosophical about fame in 2025, and gushed over his BFF Charli XCX.

Troye’s Biggest Fear? Not Being a Certified Hottie Anymore.
Aging? Fine. Taxes? Whatever. But not feeling sexy? Absolutely not.

“I feel, like, at 27, I had a meltdown about turning 30,” he told Vogue Australia, probably while dramatically staring into the abyss. “I think, for me, one of the biggest fears was not feeling sexy, and I feel, humbly, sexier than ever.”

(Yes, he actually said that. And honestly? We love the confidence.)

But before you assume he’s just out here thirst-trapping for validation, Troye clarified: it’s not about looks—it’s about vibes. “I feel good about knowing who I am and my life and where it’s at,” he explained. In other words, wisdom = hotness. Take notes, everyone.

Fame in 2025: Basically YouTube All Over Again
Troye, who launched his career on YouTube back in the early 2010s, says the current fame landscape is giving serious déjà vu.

“I think what is being celebrated at the moment is the cult of personality and ‘niche,’” he said, which is a fancy way of saying that people love when celebs are just being weird little freaks online. And as someone who used to vlog in his bedroom for millions of people? He gets it.

Charli XCX: Troye’s Forever It-Girl
Troye just wrapped up his Sweat Tour with Charli XCX, and if there’s one thing he wants you to know, it’s that she’s that girl.

“She operates from such a thoughtful place in her art and is simultaneously a very, very real person,” he gushed. Then, in what might be the most chaotic yet heartfelt compliment ever, he added:

“She’s so, sort of, unpolished in a completely intentional way. It’s not at all [fake]. She’s just real.”

Translation: Charli XCX is effortlessly cool, and Troye will throw hands for her if necessary.

The duo will be at the 2025 Grammys this weekend, so prepare for peak bestie energy on the red carpet. Maybe they’ll even have a joint existential crisis about aging together.

Stay tuned. 🎤✨
