Yes, the “Genie in a Bottle” icon is ready to grant your musical wishes once more, and this time, sheโs bringing some unplugged magic with her.
Coming in hot on Monday, September 23rd, Spotify is dropping a special video project and EP in honor of the 25th anniversary of Christinaโs debut album. (Yep, itโs been 25 years since you belted out โWhat a Girl Wantsโ into your hairbrushโtime flies when you’re trying to hit those Aguilera high notes.)
This isnโt just any old project, though. Oh no, this is part of the Spotify Anniversary video series, where musical legends are celebrated in style. And by style, I mean unplugged renditions of their biggest hits, because nothing says “Iโm a superstar” like stripping your songs down and still sounding incredible.
The magic happened at Spotifyโs Mateo studios in LA, which is apparently where pop dreams go to come true. Christina will be joined by none other than Sabrina Carpenter and everyone’s favorite tattooed wild card, Machine Gun Kelly (mgk). Yes, you heard that rightโChristina and MGK together, like peanut butter and jelly… if jelly had face tattoos and played a lot of electric guitar.
