In a move that’s more shocking than Tom Cruise’s couch-jumping escapade on Oprah, Suri Cruise, the 18-year-old progeny of Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has decided to drop her dad’s last name like a bad sequel.
Last week, during her high school graduation, the name “Suri Noelle” graced the program pamphlet, sending shockwaves through the celebrity world. Sources close to Suri (or should we call her “Noelle” now?) revealed to Page Six that the young graduate made this bold move to honor her mother. Because, let’s face it, when your mom is Katie Holmes, you want to give her a standing ovation every chance you get.
“Suri is showing her mom some major love by using her middle name,” spilled an insider. This secret agent (we’re guessing) also hinted that Suri craved her own identity. Who knew being the offspring of an action star and a Dawson’s Creek alum could be so tough?
This isn’t the first time Suri has pulled a name-switcheroo. Back in December, she starred in her high school’s rendition of The Addams Family: A New Musical (because why settle for just a play?) and listed herself as “Suri Noelle” in the playbill. Clearly, she’s been plotting this name-change caper for a while.
The same tipster also suggested that adopting “Noelle” is Suri’s master plan to dodge the ever-pesky paparazzi and start fresh at college. Because nothing says “fresh start” like confusing the tabloids with a new alias.
In a plot twist nobody saw coming, Page Six confirmed in March 2023 that Tom Cruise has been as distant from Suri as Pluto is from Earth. Yep, he’s remained estranged, leaving Suri to navigate her teenage years with just one famous parent.
Suri Cruise—oops, Suri Noelle—is carving out her own path, one name change at a time. Who knows what she’ll do next? Maybe she’ll join a rock band or run for president. One thing’s for sure: the drama is far from over!
