The 27-year-old queen of emotionally intense bops, like “Supercut,” decided to drop some cryptic content on her Instagram that has everyone doing a double take—and not just because she posted a selfie sporting what looks like a fresh black eye (seriously, what happened?! Did she challenge the universe to a staring contest and lose?).
Alongside this concerning selfie, there’s a CD. Yes, you read that right—an actual CD, which is either a throwback to the early 2000s or Lorde’s way of saying, “I’m not like other pop stars; I come with retro flair and medical scans.” What’s on this CD? Is it an album, a mixtape, or her latest MRI results? Who knows! Maybe it’s just a funky new way to drop tracks in 2024. Rebranding as a geologist? Selling high-end gravel?
Also, eagle-eyed (or just overly-caffeinated) fans noticed an “L” and a “4” in the caption. Could this be a hint at her highly anticipated fourth album? Or is she just flexing her ability to keep us all wildly confused? Either way, her last album Solar Power was a chilled-out vibe, and if this next one involves cryptic messaging and possible intergalactic hieroglyphics, I’m totally here for it.
As for the black eye, no clue how our queen got that. Was she in a bar fight? Did she trip over her own mysteriousness? Was she hit by a rogue guitar string during a passionate studio session?
