In a galaxy not so far away, Timothee Chalamet was plotting a stellar move for the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic: he wanted to bring in his Dune buddy, Austin Butler, to rock the role of Elvis Presley!
In an interview that was probably as wild as a rodeo on Mars, the 28-year-old actor spilled the beans that he was gunning for Butler to reprise his Elvis gig for the movie.
In case your memory’s as patchy as a quilt made by a sleep-deprived grandma, Timothee’s all set to strum the strings as Bob Dylan in this upcoming biopic, first whispered about back in 2020 when life was simpler, or at least less bonkers.
In a chat with NME, as they spun the wheels on their new flick together, the topic turned to them both playing musical legends in biopics.
“I’ve been raiding Austin’s brain like a raccoon in a trash can, but I think I’ll let my film take a bow before I go begging Austin to join in. He smashed it as Elvis,” Timothee quipped. “But hey, I’m riding a wave of pride too because these are two giants in the music realm. Can’t speak for Elvis, but Dylan definitely had a soft spot for the King and Sun Records.”
“It’s been a blast watching him gear up for it. Timothee’s grinding like a DJ at a silent disco, and it’s rad to dive into the nitty-gritty of our craft. Can’t wait to see that film,” Austin chimed in. “I’d be glued to the set if I could, just soaking in the magic.”
“I wish you were part of it!” Timothee burst out. “I mean, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Elvis in the Johnny Cash biopic [Walk the Line]. I was kinda hoping we could stitch together a musical multiverse.”
And just like that, the stage was set for a biopic crossover extravaganza. Move over Marvel, we’re about to see some musical superheroes take center stage!
