Sound the apocalypse alarms and grab your emotional support snacks—The Last of Us Season 2 trailer has officially arrived!
After wrecking our souls (and possibly our sleep schedules) in 2023, HBO’s hit series is back this spring to deliver another round of post-apocalyptic trauma, fungal freak-outs, and Pedro Pascal making everyone wish he was their TV dad.
What’s in the Trailer?
On Saturday (March 8), the highly anticipated trailer dropped, and let’s just say—it looks like things are about to get even more dramatic, dangerous, and devastating than before. Because if there’s one thing this show loves, it’s ruining our feelings in the most cinematic way possible.
Here’s the official Season 2 logline, which basically translates to “things are about to get even worse”:
“Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
In other words, hope is still canceled.
Who’s Back, Who’s New, and Who’s About to Emotionally Destroy Us?
Season 2 sees the return of the apocalypse’s most dysfunctional family:
✅ Pedro Pascal as Joel (world’s most reluctant yet lovable dad)
✅ Bella Ramsey as Ellie (badass, slightly feral teenager)
✅ Gabriel Luna as Tommy (Joel’s brother, expert at surviving and brooding)
✅ Rutina Wesley as Maria (probably the only person here making logical decisions)
But wait—there’s more! We’ve also got a whole new cast of characters ready to make us feel things:
🔥 Kaitlyn Dever as Abby (if you know, you know…)
🔥 Isabela Merced as Dina (Ellie’s love interest, because even in the apocalypse, dating drama exists)
🔥 Young Mazino as Jesse (a guy who deserves better, trust us)
🔥 Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, and Jeffrey Wright – aka, a fresh batch of people we will either love, fear, or cry over.
🔥 And the one and only Catherine O’Hara as a guest star, because even the end of the world needs a little comedy.
When Does It All Go Down?
Mark your calendars (and prepare your emotional support plushies), because Season 2 of The Last of Us premieres on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO. And if you’re a person of taste, you can stream it on Max.
Now go ahead, press play on the trailer below—but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
