Taylor Swift can now add “football strategist” to her never-ending list of superpowers! Honestly, at this point, she could probably win the Super Bowl singlehandedly—and write a chart-topping breakup song about it afterward.
According to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and MVP of Everything, Patrick Mahomes, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter extraordinaire is already moonlighting as an NFL coach. That’s right, the woman who wrote “Shake It Off” is now shaking up game strategies for the Chiefs—and her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s career might just depend on it.
In a recent NFL on NBC interview with Chris Simms, Mahomes dropped the bombshell that T-Swift isn’t just a football fan—oh no, she’s got that clipboard out and is ready to hustle.
“She’s really interested in football,” Mahomes said, probably while trying to decipher Taylor’s intricate play diagrams with hearts and doodles in the margins. “She asks a lot of great questions,” he added, presumably like, “So, what does ‘offside’ mean again?” But apparently, she’s so into it that she’s started drawing up actual plays. You know, just casually doing the job of an NFL offensive coordinator while probably thinking of rhymes for “touchdown.”
“Yeah, we might have to put one of her plays in,” Mahomes admitted, likely imagining a huddle where Taylor hands out friendship bracelets and tells the team to “just go long, emotionally and physically.”
But it’s not just the Chiefs who are benefiting from Taylor’s football prowess—it seems like everyone is tuning in now, just in case she shows up and starts belting out a halftime show mid-game. Mahomes noticed that since Taylor started dating Travis Kelce, the attention on the team has skyrocketed. He’s right, though. Forget X’s and O’s—the new game plan is Swifties and touchdowns.
“I think it’s been cool to see the girls and the women who have really embraced watching football,” Mahomes said. “I mean, I’m a girl dad, so it’s awesome to see little girls screaming about blitzes and field goals instead of just ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version).’”
And it turns out, meeting Taylor was even more magical than anyone expected. “Meeting Taylor, realizing how genuine and cool she is… that’s been special,” Mahomes said. “I mean, she’s literally the most famous person on the planet. Like, more famous than the Super Bowl itself. And she’s here, drawing plays that might just win us the next championship.”
So, Chiefs fans, buckle up—because with Taylor Swift running the show, anything can happen. Maybe the next touchdown will be followed by a surprise album drop.
