Suki Waterhouse Releases New Single ‘Supersad’ Off Her Upcoming Album ‘Memoir of a Sparklemuffin’

Buy Me A Coffee

Suki Waterhouse is back, and she’s bringing the jams!

On Thursday (June 20), the 32-year-old musician and actress dropped a bombshell: her new double album, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin, is on the way! And she didn’t just give us a taste; she served up the whole entrée with the lead single, “Supersad.” This is her first album since 2022’s I Can’t Let Go, and boy, have we missed her musical musings.

But wait, there’s more! She also spilled the beans on the full tracklist and gave us the scoop on the album’s wacky title.

“I aimed for a nineties vibe, like something you’d hear blasting in a mall scene from Clueless or kicking off Legally Blonde,” Suki said about “Supersad.” And guess what? The music video is directed by the talented Émilie Richard-Froozan, because why not go all out?

Now, about that title. How on earth did she come up with Memoir of a Sparklemuffin? Drumroll, please… it’s inspired by a spider! Yes, you read that right, a spider.

“I stumbled upon the Sparklemuffin spider. This thing is a kaleidoscope on eight legs, and it does a dance that would put TikTok stars to shame. But if its mate isn’t impressed, it’s game over, buddy. It’s a metaphor for our life dance: fabulous, absurd, and a little bit deadly,” Suki elaborated, likely with a cheeky grin.

Memoir of a Sparklemuffin drops on September 13, 2024, so mark your calendars and prepare for a glittery, musical journey.
