Sofia Vergara is dropping some comedic bombs about her decision to put the brakes on the baby-making train, much to the dismay of her ex-hubby, Joe Manganiello, who’s apparently got a hankering for more tiny humans in the house.
The 51-year-old Modern Family starlet spilled the beans that one of the nails in the coffin of her marriage to Joe was his craving for kiddos, while she was more like, “Nah, I’m good.” She’s already got a strapping lad named Manolo, who’s 32 and probably old enough to be her moral compass at this point.
In a recent sit-down with People, she waxed philosophical about the joys of having spawned early in life, saying, “It’s kinda wild ’cause here I am, pushing 52, and there’s Manolo, full-grown at 32. Sometimes I wish I’d been a bit older when I popped him out, you know, maybe then I wouldn’t have accidentally mistaken the diaper bin for a hamper during late-night baby duty. But hey, you roll with what you’ve got. Plus, it’s been a trip, growing up alongside my own kid.”
But when it comes to punching in another ticket on the baby train, Sofia’s hitting the brakes harder than a grandma driving in rush hour.
“I’ve already got the ‘Mom’ badge, thanks. And let me tell you, it’s a full-time gig,” she quipped. “Sure, there’s all this fancy science now that says you can have babies well into your golden years. But come on, Mother Nature didn’t give us a ‘menopause’ button at 50 for nothing. That’s her way of saying, ‘Take a break, lady!’ And who am I to argue with Mother Nature? She’s got a wicked sense of humor.”
And while some gals might be popping out offspring like they’re in a game of Whac-A-Mole, Sofia’s all about that quality over quantity gig.
“I respect the hustle of anyone who wants to dive into the mommy pool after 50, but for me, it’s a hard pass,” she explained. “Between my career, my lifestyle, and my last marriage, adding another tiny human to the mix just felt like trying to juggle flaming swords while riding a unicycle. It’s a spectacle, sure, but nobody’s having a good time.”
Sofia’s got her hands full with one grown kid, a career that’s hotter than a jalapeño in a sauna, and no plans to add a fresh batch of diapers to the mix anytime soon. And frankly, we’re loving her no-nonsense approach to the whole baby business.
