Sarah Paulson has officially landed at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival!
The 49-year-old Emmy winner strutted onto the red carpet like she owned the place (because, let’s be real, she kinda does), rocking a navy suit so sharp it probably could’ve sliced bread. It was like she was sending a message to the world: “I’m here, I’m fabulous, and yes, I do know how to make pantsuits look cooler than they’ve ever been.” This stylish showdown went down on Thursday (Sept. 12), at the prestigious Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Canada—where fancy people go to watch even fancier movies.
Of course, Sarah wasn’t flying solo on this thriller train. Her dynamic duo of directors, Karrie Crouse and Will Joines, joined her, making the carpet look like a reunion of incredibly talented people who all clearly got the “navy chic” memo. Also tagging along was her young co-star, Alona Robbins, who presumably brought some youthful balance to Sarah’s fierce sophistication, proving once again that the youth aren’t just here for TikTok dances.
Now, let’s talk about this movie, Hold Your Breath. Hulu describes it like this: “In 1930s Oklahoma, where dust storms are scarier than your Wi-Fi going out, a woman (Paulson) becomes convinced that an evil entity is out to ruin her family’s lives.” Spooky, right? It’s basically a combination of The Great Depression, ghost stories, and family drama—all in one terrifying package. We assume there’s enough tension in this film to make your popcorn explode.
Karrie Crouse, in addition to co-directing, penned the script herself. Rumor has it she wrote it while being chased by a dust storm, but that’s unconfirmed. Anyway, it’s safe to say the film will have you questioning whether that gust of wind outside is just bad weather or something much more sinister.
As for the cast, it’s a star-studded affair. We’ve got Annaleigh Ashford, Amiah Miller, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Bill Heck, proving once again that nobody named Bill Heck is ever gonna play the nice guy in a thriller.
In case you’re wondering, the movie Hold Your Breath will be haunting your Hulu screens on October 3, so set your reminders now.
Oh, and Sarah? She’s wearing Schiaparelli. Obviously. Because why wear anything else when you’re single-handedly redefining “red carpet goals”?
