Reese Witherspoon is throwing a mini-party (minus the cake, but probably plus some really cool cupcakes) for her youngest son, Tennessee, who is officially a pre-teen! Yes, she’s entered the treacherous realm of 12-year-old boyhood, where every day is a new adventure in missing socks and questionable smells.
On this fine Friday (Sept. 27, a date that will go down in Reese’s personal history books), the 48-year-old Oscar-winning queen of Hollywood posted a rare gem on Instagram. And by gem, I mean a picture of her son, Tenn, who is apparently living his best life on the precipice of teenage chaos. Brace yourselves, world—he’s almost there.
“Happy 12th Birthday to my wonderful son, Tenn! 💙” Reese proudly typed, probably while sipping coffee and dodging a Nerf gun attack. “I’m so lucky to have your joyful, curious, hilarious spirit in my life making me laugh every day.” Translation: “Thanks for the laughs, kiddo, but can you PLEASE pick up your Legos?” She ended with, “I love you, buddy 🥰” which is parent-speak for “You drive me nuts, but I’d still share my snacks with you.”
In case you missed the family drama tree: Reese shares Tennessee with her ex-husband Jim Toth. But that’s not all! She’s also the proud mom of daughter Ava, 25, who may or may not raid her closet, and son Deacon, 20, who’s probably too cool to admit his mom is an Oscar-winner. Both of those lovely humans came from her previous marriage to Ryan Phillippe, aka the ’90s heartthrob who is genetically responsible for Reese’s army of mini-me’s.
So, happy birthday, Tenn! May your year be filled with adventure, video games, and just enough laundry to remind you that mom is, indeed, a superhero in disguise.
