Start your engines, y’all — Elle Woods just pulled into the fast lane!
America’s sweetheart and certified multitasker Reese Witherspoon has decided that winning an Oscar just wasn’t enough — now she’s adding “racing mogul” to her resume. Reese is the executive producer of the new Netflix docu-series F1: The Academy, aka the show where young women go from go-kart queens to potential Formula 1 legends faster than you can say “pit stop.”
On Thursday night (May 1), Reese hosted a glamorous premiere screening of the series at The Fillmore in Miami Beach, Florida — because nothing says motorsport like sipping champagne while trying not to sweat through your designer outfit in the Florida humidity.
Now what is F1 Academy, you ask? Oh, just a casual boot camp for badass women who want to trade in their learner’s permits for an F1 seat. It’s basically *The Bachelor* but instead of roses, they’re getting racing helmets and career acceleration (pun 100% intended).
The series — coming to Netflix on May 28, so mark your calendars and cancel all your boring plans — is brought to you by Reese’s production company Hello Sunshine, aka the place where empowerment meets entertainment meets “Dang, she does everything!”
Also on the red carpet, looking like he accidentally wandered off the runway at Milan Fashion Week, was F1 driver George Russell. He arrived with his long-term girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt, who may or may not be a Disney princess in disguise (jury’s still out). The couple looked flawless and suspiciously un-sweaty, which is suspicious given the Miami weather is 96% humidity and 4% regret.
And just to complete the weekend of zoom-zoom energy, the Miami Grand Prix is revving up, featuring 57 laps of pure adrenaline, squealing tires, and probably some rich dude in sunglasses yelling “Let’s gooooo!” from a yacht.
Reese is shifting gears, Netflix is bringing the drama, and the F1 girlies are coming for pole position. Vroom vroom, baby.
