🚨 Sound the alarm! 🚨 Call Zordon! 📞 Someone check on Alpha 5! 🤖 The Power Rangers are BACK, baby!
According to The Wrap, a brand-spankin’-new live-action Power Rangers series is in the works at Disney+. That’s right—Disney+ is collecting franchises like Thanos collects Infinity Stones, and now they’ve got the Rangers in their mighty, morphin’ grip.
And here’s the real plot twist: Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz are in talks to write, produce, and basically be the puppet masters behind this new iteration of our favorite spandex-clad superheroes. Morphers and lightning bolts in the same cinematic universe? Someone hold my Megazord!
What Can We Expect?
Well, according to Disney+ and 20th Television, the new show “will reinvent the franchise for a whole new generation of fans while also making OG fans scream into their nostalgia pillows.” (Okay, we added that last part, but it’s TRUE.)
This news comes just two years after Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury (formerly known as Dino Fury because, apparently, dinosaurs just weren’t furious enough). That show was hanging out over on Netflix, but now Disney+ is stepping up to be the Rangers’ new home.
Oh, and let’s not forget Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always! That 30th-anniversary reunion special had fans fist-pumping the air and crying into their childhood lunchboxes. So yeah, the Rangers are thriving.
So, When Can We See It?
Well, don’t morph into excitement just yet—Jonathan and Dan are currently knee-deep in demigod drama, as they’re also working on the freshly announced third season of Percy Jackson. (Which, if we’re honest, means it might be a hot minute before this Power Rangers reboot gets rolling.)
But hey, good things take time! Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, keep practicing your “IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!” battle stance in the mirror. (We know you do it. No judgment.)
