Move over Shakespeare, because Princess Kate is here to redefine the art of public speaking in a way that’s, well, unique. It turns out that being an incredible mom and a stellar royal doesn’t automatically gift you with the gift of gab. Princess Kate, or Catherine if we’re getting all posh about it, has been facing some “constructive criticism” from her loyal subjects, and it’s all about her oratory skills, or lack thereof.
So, there’s this little shindig she’s got coming up called The Shaping Us National Symposium, set to take place at the swanky Design Museum in London on a date that’s etched in our calendars as Wednesday, Nov. 14. Rebecca English from The Daily Mail is all hyped up about it, calling it a “huge moment” for our future Queen. But here’s the royal tea: many out there seem to have a different script in mind.
Some cheeky souls took to the internet to express their views, and it seems they’re not exactly queuing up for front-row seats to Kate’s public speaking extravaganza. One daring soul exclaimed, “However good her speechwriters, Catherine is not good at public speaking, so it’s unlikely the speech will be a ‘huge moment for her.'” Ouch, that’s like a royal slap with a velvet glove, isn’t it?
And the hits keep on coming! Another voice chimed in, saying, “I agree & Catherine has many admirable qualities, but promoting her as someone about to give a landmark speech doesn’t do her any favors.” Well, isn’t that a fancy way of saying, “This ain’t her gig!”
But wait, not everyone is sharpening their digital pitchforks. A defender of the princess jumped into the ring, reminding us all that public orations are no walk in the royal park. “Public orations are not easy, so she is brave to do it,” they proclaimed. Well, props for bravery, Kate!
In the midst of this regal hullabaloo, Kate is all set to share the spotlight with a crew of brainy behavioral psychologists and professors. They’ll be brainstorming about the importance of tending to kiddos’ physical and mental health during their early years. It’s like a royal brainstorming session, complete with tea and crumpets!
Kate kicked off her Shaping Us campaign back in January, and she had some profound words to drop on us. She explained, “The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the critical importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become.” That’s deep stuff, Kate, and we applaud your efforts to lay the foundation for future grown-ups during tea parties and playdates.
As troll my way through the Internet streets Iโm always reminded why public speaking isnโt for everyone. Kate Middleton is a mess Iโm hoping the obsessed stalkers who found themselves under my Meghan speech post have the same energy for this.#KariettTubman pic.twitter.com/JiKvEDSw1V
