Orlando Bloom has finally responded to Keira Knightley’s recent revelation that she has zero interest in ever setting sail with another blockbuster franchise again. And honestly? He gets it.
In case you need a refresher (or if you, like Jack Sparrow, have had one too many encounters with rum), Orlando and Keira played everyone’s favorite star-crossed, mildly stressed-out lovers, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Back in the 2000s, they sword-fought, made out in the middle of hurricanes, and spent an uncomfortable amount of time dealing with Johnny Depp’s eyeliner.
But in a 2024 interview, Keira, now 39, admitted that while Pirates was a major part of her career, she’s not about that franchise life anymore. Like, at all. “No thanks,” she said, probably while clutching a cup of tea and thinking about all the corsets she had to wear.
So what does Orlando, 48, think about all this? When asked by Entertainment Weekly, he was as smooth as ever.
“It was such a huge moment in time that is almost like… it feels almost like another lifetime now,” Orlando mused, possibly while staring wistfully at the horizon, as one does.
“But it certainly was unique, and, you know, I’m always grateful,” he added. “But I definitely understand where Keira was coming from, and she does wonderful things.”
Translation? “Fair enough, Keira. You do you.”
And with that, Orlando Bloom remains the most chill pirate (turned sea-cursed-blacksmith) in Hollywood.
