Nicole Scherzinger Says Being In The Pussycat Dolls Was “Very Difficult”

Buy Me A Coffee

Nicole Scherzinger, now a sprightly 46-year-old, has been reflecting on her rollercoaster of an adventure with The Pussycat Dolls. This saga spans from 2003 to 2010, with an encore performance from 2019 to 2021. Spoiler alert: it was a real doozy.

In a recent chinwag with The Times (yes, the one in the U.K.), Nicole spilled the tea on her “very difficult” and “overwhelming experience” as the leading lady of the group. And boy, did she not hold back!

“I’m really proud of the music that the Dolls made,” Nicole beamed. “And I’m very proud of the little mark that we made with our group. But it was like trying to juggle flaming torches while riding a unicycle on a tightrope over a pit of hungry alligators.” Okay, she didn’t say that last part, but she should have!

Nicole pointed a manicured finger at the grueling schedule they had to endure. “It was such a difficult time, struggling and battling your own demons and issues and always being on the road. And they never allowed sleep in our schedule,” she said. Sleep? Who needs sleep when you have choreography to remember and sequins to sparkle in?

“It was just a recipe for disaster, to be honest with you,” she added. Picture trying to bake a cake with cement instead of flour. Yep, that kind of disaster.

The schedule was so bonkers that it wouldn’t fly today. “They have rules set in place, and, you know, it’s more of a woke community now,” Nicole mused. “But back then, it was like, ‘Work them to the bone until they’re passed out.’” You could almost hear the evil laugh of the scheduling wizard in the background.

And let’s talk about the sleep struggles. “It was just hard for me to sleep. I always had sleeping issues,” Nicole confessed. Insomnia: 1, Nicole: 0.

But wait, there’s more! Nicole also opened up about her body insecurities. “A dancer’s body is the instrument; it’s beautiful,” she said. “But I was a singer first. It was difficult for me in the beginning because I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin.” Imagine being a singing cat doll and feeling like a clumsy giraffe on roller skates.

Nicole Scherzinger’s time with The Pussycat Dolls was a whirlwind of glitter, sleepless nights, and existential dread. But hey, at least the music was catchy!
