Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts are still BFFs after nearly 30 years! That’s right, three decades of sharing secrets, bad movie recommendations, and the occasional “Why didn’t you tell me my hair looked like a bird’s nest?”
Last week, Netflix dropped its latest thriller, The Perfect Couple, featuring Nicole, who is 57 and still rocking the red carpet. Nicole stars alongside Liev Schreiber, Naomi’s ex-boyfriend, who is 56 and apparently has more lives than a cat. Naomi, who is 55 and probably still thinks she’s 25, was once romantically entangled with Liev for a solid decade.
In a recent chat, Naomi spilled the beans that Nicole actually called her before officially teaming up with Liev on the show. “We always check in; we’re like a super-duo,” Naomi told Entertainment Weekly. “That was really sweet of her to do that. Plus, it’s not every day you get a call from your bestie saying, ‘Hey, I’m about to work with your ex. No biggie, right?’”
Naomi and Liev’s love saga began in 2005 and concluded in 2016. They have two kids, Sasha and Kai, who are probably already experts at dodging paparazzi. Despite their split and new marriages to other people, Naomi and Liev are still co-parenting like champs and keeping their kids out of the spotlight as much as possible. Friendship, exes, and kids. If that’s not the stuff of legendary soap operas, I don’t know what is!
