On Friday (July 19), NBCUniversal strutted onto the scene and dropped the big news: Suits: L.A. – the flashy new legal drama set in the same universe as the original series – has snagged a series order.
From the mind of Aaron Korsch, the maestro behind the original series, this new installment will star Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, and Bryan Greenberg. It’s like the Avengers of legal drama!
NBC also teased us with the first photo from the series, featuring Stephen Amell as Ted Black, looking as sharp as a tack in his suit and perched at his desk like he owns the place. Spoiler alert: he probably does.
According to Deadline, Ted Black is a “charismatic force of nature” – translation: he’s the kind of guy who’d steal your lunch and make you feel grateful for it. Fifteen years ago, this former New York prosecutor teamed up with his old buddy, Stuart Lane, to build a law firm in L.A. that’s all about criminal and entertainment law – because who doesn’t want to mix murder trials and movie deals?
In the new series, Ted’s firm is hitting a crisis bigger than a Hollywood scandal. To survive, Ted has to take on a role he’s hated his entire career. He’s surrounded by a motley crew of characters who are more loyal than your grandma’s old dog, yet can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives like a bad cocktail. All the while, secrets from the past start bubbling up like a bad case of heartburn, threatening to blow Ted’s life sky-high.
NBC is still keeping the premiere date under wraps, but get your popcorn ready because Suits: L.A. is gearing up to be a wild ride!
