Miley Cyrus is dishing out the dirt on her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, in a new interview, and it’s juicier than a watermelon at a summer picnic.
The 31-year-old pop sensation and her 62-year-old achy breaky heart of a dad have had a bumpy ride ever since he split from Tish Cyrus, leading to some major family drama. Imagine Thanksgiving dinners with them—pass the turkey and the emotional baggage!
In a heart-to-heart on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, Miley let it all out about how her dad has been both a blessing and a bane in her life.
“He’s got one foot in the real world and the other in… well, somewhere between cowboy boots and unicorns,” Miley laughed on the Netflix show. “Even when he was strutting around as a country superstar, he was always grounded. I’m thankful for the road map he’s given me—complete with detours to avoid his epic mistakes.”
She chuckled, adding, “I also inherited the family-sized narcissism from him. Thanks, Dad!”
Talking about her parents’ roles in her success, Miley was quick to point out that comparing them is like comparing apples to bananas—totally different fruits, people!
“Without my dad, I know—I mean, aside from the obvious biological fact that I wouldn’t exist—I wouldn’t be who I am today. His artistic brain made my own brain feel less like a circus and more like Cirque du Soleil. We’re both a bit kooky,” Miley explained. “But my mom, she’s the real MVP. She raised me while Dad was busy being a superstar.”
“Seriously, my mom is my superhero,” she gushed. Someone fetch this woman a cape!
When Miley snagged the Grammy for Record of the Year, she didn’t even give her dad a shout-out. Ouch. That’s a Thanksgiving conversation waiting to happen.
But wait, there’s more drama! Billy Ray, in an attempt to play nice, posted a sweet message about Miley on his Instagram. Aww, social media to the rescue!
Meanwhile, he’s also busy making headlines for his personal life—divorcing his wife of seven months, Firerose. And trust me, the details are spicier than a bowl of Nashville hot chicken.
Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus, proving once again that even when you’re rich and famous, family life can still be a circus.
