🚨Sound the indie film alarm and clutch your emotional support iced coffee: the trailer for Honey Don’t! just dropped and it’s giving small-town chaos, murdery vibes, and a suspiciously hot cult leader. (Yes, Captain America went full “praise be” and we’re not okay.)
So here’s the tea: Honey Don’t! is a dark comedy—because of course it is—that follows Honey O’Donahue (Margaret Qualley, queen of quirky roles and excellent hair), a small-town private eye who gets tangled up in some extremely suspicious deaths tied to a church that’s either super sketchy or just aggressively spiritual. Either way, red flags everywhere.
Guess who plays the charismatic (read: probably evil) church leader? None other than CHRIS EVANS. That’s right. America’s a** is now America’s most suspicious preacher. Margaret’s character is investigating him, but honestly… we’re investigating why he looks that good in a turtleneck.
Joining the chaos: Aubrey Plaza (obviously), Charlie Day (bless him), Billy Eichner (screaming), and it’s all directed by the legendary Ethan Coen, who teamed up once again with Tricia Cooke to write this fever dream. If you watched Drive-Away Dolls and thought, “This needs 40% more religious cult energy,” you’re in luck!
The movie drops in theaters August 22, but before that, it’s premiering at le fancy Cannes Film Festival, where people will definitely pretend to understand it while wearing sunglasses indoors.
🎬 Peep the trailer below and prepare yourself for murder, mayhem, and Chris Evans serving cult daddy realness. Praise be.
