Kit Connor turned heads in a dazzling blue suit as he sashayed down the red carpet for the premiere of his latest flick, The Wild Robot, on Sunday (September 8) at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. Yes, that’s Toronto, not the set of The Matrix.
The 20-year-old Heartstopper star looked like he’d just stepped out of a very stylish time machine, striking poses with co-star Lupita Nyong’o. The premiere, part of the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, was basically a celebrity parade. And no, Mark Hamill didn’t bring his lightsaber, but he did bring his charm. Joining the shindig were Catherine O’Hara, Mark Hamill, Stephanie Hsu, and even director Chris Sanders, who looked as cool as a cucumber in an ice bath. Maren Morris also showed up, singing “Kiss the Sky”—an original tune that’s basically the movie’s version of a high-five.
Mark Hamill’s wife, Marilou, and their daughter, Chelsea, were in the audience, cheering so loudly you’d think they were at a rock concert rather than a movie premiere.
The Wild Robot is an epic tale of a robot named Roz—short for ROZZUM unit 7134 (because apparently, “Roz” was more user-friendly). This robot gets shipwrecked on a deserted island and has to learn how to play nice with the local wildlife, eventually becoming the adoptive parent of a fluffy orphaned gosling. Yes, it’s as adorable and bizarre as it sounds.
Get ready for a wild ride when the animated feature hits theaters on Friday, September 27th. In the meantime, check out the trailer—you won’t regret it (unless you’re allergic to cuteness).
