Luke Bryan has some things to clear up, and it’s spicier than a chili cook-off at your Aunt Edna’s! The 48-year-old country star—yes, the man whose dance moves are as smooth as molasses—recently found himself in the middle of a viral whirlwind. Why, you ask? Because he dared to speak about none other than Beyoncé, the queen of everything, including apparently cowboy boots now.
It all started when Luke casually mentioned that the 43-year-old star of Cowboy Carter (uh, is that a movie? A fragrance? A horse with a credit score?) needed to “get in the family” of country music to score some CMA Awards love. Translation: Beyoncé, you gotta ride the mechanical bull if you want to lasso a CMA!
Naturally, the internet did what it does best—took his words, yeeted them into the Twittersphere, and the rest is history. Fans grabbed their pitchforks and cowboy hats, ready for a showdown. But Luke wasn’t having it. Oh no, y’all. He took to social media faster than you can say “Yeehaw!” to address the “utter ridiculousness” of the situation.
“Hey y’all,” Luke started, which is Southern for “hold my beer, this is gonna be good.” He explained he was wrapping up his tour, having the time of his life, but felt the need to set the record straight about the viral interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM. Apparently, a “false narrative” was taking off faster than a jackrabbit on hot asphalt.
Luke, in his best ‘aww shucks’ manner, urged everyone to “listen to the interview” because his “tone and intentions were not negative.” Basically, Luke said, “Y’all, calm down, I’m not out here trying to throw shade at Beyoncé. I love her! I respect her! I even know some of her songs… probably.”
He then sweetened the deal by throwing in some classic Southern charm: “I want everyone to win. Love y’all.” Which, if you didn’t know, is Southern code for “I’m done explaining, y’all are crazy, and I have a barbecue to get to.”
Meanwhile, the Country Music Association recently dropped the full list of nominees for the 2024 CMA Awards, and guess who wasn’t on it? That’s right—Beyoncé. Even though she made history by being the first Black woman to ever top both the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with Cowboy Carter (seriously, is that a hat? A sandwich? A lifestyle?) and the Hot Country Songs chart with her hit *Texas Hold ‘Em* (possibly a love ballad to poker?), the queen received exactly zero CMA nominations. Zilch. Nada. The audacity.
Luke’s not trying to stir the pot (or the chili), Beyoncé’s still reigning supreme, and country music might just have to brace itself for a rhinestone-covered Beyoncé invasion next year. Watch out CMA 2025, ‘cause Queen Bey might be coming for that stage—spurs and all.
Hey yall, I’m wrapping up the last night of my tour tonight and it’s been an amazing time. For that I am thankful.
I am posting tonight based on the ridiculous nature of the headlines I have read the last couple days from an interview on the Andy Cohen show I did this week when…
