“Die With a Smile” is the new musical mash-up from Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, and it’s so catchy you’ll be humming it in your sleep and possibly during your next job interview.
In the chorus, they croon, “If the world was ending / I’d wanna be next to you / If the party was over / And our time on Earth was through / I’d wanna hold you just for a while / And die with a smile.” Basically, they’re saying, “If it’s the end of days, at least let’s go out dancing and smiling.” Sounds like a plan, right?
Now, let’s dive into how this duet came to be. Gaga spills the tea: “Bruno and I have this epic mutual admiration club going on, and we were chatting about working together. I was chilling in Malibu, finishing my album, when Bruno, out of the blue, invited me over to his studio. It was like midnight—way past my bedtime. I staggered in, and boom! His new track hit me like a musical ton of bricks. We ended up pulling an all-nighter, writing and recording. Bruno’s talent is so off-the-charts, it needs its own zip code. The guy’s a musical wizard.”
Bruno, ever the gentleman, replied, “Working with Gaga has been like winning the musical lottery. She’s a legend, and together, we’ve created something pretty magical. Can’t wait for everyone to hear it and start singing along in their shower!”
