Kristen Bell Reveals A Dirty Joke That Was Snuck Into Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Song

Buy Me A Coffee

Turns out the chill factor in Frozen wasn’t just the snowstorms—it had a little wink-wink nudge-nudge moment just for the grown-ups, and Kristen Bell is here to let us in on the secret!

In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Bell revisited Disney’s 2013 animated megahit and revealed that, yes, there’s a joke about balls in there. And no, we’re not talking about the kind you waltz at.

Singing along to “For the First Time in Forever,” Bell gave us the punchline:
“Why have a ballroom with no balls?”

Cue the mischievous grin. Bell chimed in:
“How did we slip that joke in? Like, seriously, Disney—who gave us the keys to this comedy vault?” she laughed. “We just yeeted it under the radar. Like, WHOOSH. Nobody saw it coming.”

But apparently, it almost didn’t make it into the final cut! Drama, right?

“They were this close to pulling it,” Bell confessed. “And we were like, ‘Relax, y’all, it’s just architecture talk! Get your minds out of the gutter!’”

But let’s get real, we all know Disney walks a tightrope of innuendos that keeps parents laughing while their kids happily miss the point. And speaking of relatable characters, Bell also spilled some tea on how she shaped the lovable hot mess that is Anna.

“Disney princesses are usually so perfect—like, they wake up with a full face of makeup and a bird singing harmony on their shoulder,” she said, rolling her eyes. “But I wanted Anna to be that real girl. Like, the ‘oops-I-just-walked-into-a-door-and-I-don’t-know-how-to-stop-talking’ kind of vibe.”

She went on:
“When I was a kid, I needed to see a princess who snored like a chainsaw and drooled on her pillow. So, I pitched that version to Disney: ‘Can we just… crank up the awkward by, like, a thousand? Give her morning breath! Make her trip over air!’”

And guess what? Disney actually let her run wild with it. “It was totally collaborative,” Bell shared. “Like, at one point they had Anna waking up all graceful and I was like, ‘Nope, nope, nope. We need snorts. Add drool. Give me that morning-gremlin energy!’ And they just went for it.

Now every time she watches Anna’s messy morning sequence, Bell says it brings her pure joy. “She’s awkward and chaotic, and it’s glorious,” she said proudly.

So next time you watch Frozen, remember: that ballroom joke? Yeah, you weren’t imagining things. And Anna? She’s proof that it’s okay to be a bit of a lovable disaster.

Watch her hilarious explanation and prepare to never see Frozen the same way again! 🎤✨
