King Charles, our beloved royal of 75 tender years, decided to let the world know he’s still hanging in there. If you missed it earlier this year (Were you living under a rock? The man’s a monarch!), the King disclosed a rather royal revelation – he was diagnosed with cancer. Now, don’t go running to WebMD, we still don’t know what kind of cancer because, you know, the King likes his privacy like he likes his tea – kept quiet and piping hot.
During a recent outing where the royal robes came off and Charles played the “friendly local,” someone had the audacity to ask him, “How’s it going, Your Majesty?” To which Charles, in his usual understated way, responded with the most British of all answers: “I’m not too bad.” Translation? “I’m still here, peasant. Let’s not make a fuss.”
For those of you hoping for more details, you’re out of luck. The King isn’t spilling the tea on his cancer type, nor is he hosting a reality show on his health journey. That said, he did let slip one side effect of his treatment. What is it? We don’t know, but we’re going to assume it involves being tired of answering questions like, “Are you okay?”
In case you were worried, the King is still out and about, making royal appearances like the true trooper he is. Just recently, on August 20, he was spotted at Southport, England, probably charming the socks off of everyone there while juggling his health, crown, and a cup of Earl Grey. He was visiting families affected by the tragic stabbing at a children’s class – proving that even when life stabs you (metaphorically), Charles is still showing up for others.
King Charles is doing “not too bad,” still won’t give you any juicy health updates, but remains ever the dapper ruler we know and love. Cheers to more of those stiff-upper-lip appearances, Your Majesty! Stay fabulous.
