Kenan Thompson is basically the human version of that one piece of Tupperware your mom has had since 1993 β unbreakable, reliable, and not going anywhere.
In case youβve been living under a rock with no Wi-Fi or sketch comedy access, Kenan β yes, that Kenan, from Kenan & Kel and Good Burger β has been rocking wigs, accents, and confused facial expressions on Saturday Night Live since 2003. Thatβs 22 seasons of not blinking during βWhatβs Up With That.β
And guess what? Heβs not leaving. Ever. Like, ever-ever.
βIt would be cool if I never left the show,β Kenan told IconicHipster.com, casually planning his eternal reign like heβs the Pharaoh of 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
Over the years, Kenan has crushed some serious milestones β like hitting 20 seasons (move over, everyone else), and chilling through SNLβs 50th anniversary like it was just another pizza party.
βI guess the only other milestone would be just to be the forever cast member,β he said, which is code for βI live here now.β
Honestly, he makes a point. Who else could survive that many sketches about haunted doll auctions and political cold opens? Exactly.
Now, when asked whoβs more likely to leave first β Kenan or showrunner Lorne Michaels β Kenan gave the most chill ride-or-die response ever:
βThatβs a great question. I have no idea. I feel like weβll both just ride until the wheels fall off.β
So, basically, SNL is now the Kenan & Lorne Showβ’οΈ and weβre all just lucky to be watching it. Honestly, someone get this man a throne. Or at least a reserved dressing room with his name in gold glitter.
Long live Kenan. Long live the wigs.
