Jonathan Majors, an actor known for playing tough guys on screen, just got real about something much heavier than throwing cinematic punches. Turns out, life started swinging at him way before Hollywood did.
In an eye-opening interview with THR, the 35-year-old star revealed that he experienced sexual abuse as a child—by both men and women—starting when he was just nine years old. And no, this wasn’t some twisted movie plot.
“I dealt with sexual abuse from both men and women from the time I was 9,” he said, adding, “From people who are supposed to look after you, in the absence of a father. I was f–ked up.”
And if you thought opening up about trauma was tough, imagine explaining it to your mom. Jonathan recently did just that.
“She apologized for not protecting me,” he shared. But Jonathan, being the emotionally evolved king he is, responded with, “It’s not even an issue, mom. I just want you to know.” Because apparently, Majors doesn’t just act in dramas—he lives in one.
But here’s where the real character development kicks in: Majors says working through this pain has helped him understand his own behavior in relationships. “There are no excuses,” he admitted, “but by getting help, you begin to understand things about yourself.”
Basically, therapy is the director’s cut of life—it helps you see all the behind-the-scenes footage that explains why your character is the way they are.
Now, while the internet may be busy discussing his legal battles, one thing is clear: Jonathan Majors is on a journey of healing. And honestly? That deserves a standing ovation.
