Prepare to be caught in Jennifer Lopez’s dazzling web because her latest movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, has officially locked in a Fall 2025 release date! That’s right—J.Lo is back, and this time, she’s singing, dancing, and possibly smooching people to death (but, like, in a glamorous way).
The film, which wowed audiences at Sundance earlier this year, has been scooped up by Roadside Attractions, Lionsgate, and LD Entertainment. And unlike certain blockbusters that pop up on streaming faster than your ex’s new relationship, this one will be exclusive to actual movie theaters. So, dust off those popcorn buckets and prepare for a cinematic experience you can’t pause.
What’s It About?
Set in 1983 Argentina (yes, it’s giving historical drama realness), the story follows two prisoners—Valentín (played by the ever-brooding Diego Luna) and Molina (brought to life by Tonatiuh)—who, despite their wildly different worldviews, find an unlikely connection. Enter J.Lo’s character, Ingrid Luna, a screen siren wrapped up in a fantasy musical storyline about a woman desperately trying to escape a mythical predator who kills with a kiss. So basically, it’s like Sleeping Beauty meets Black Widow, but make it Broadway.
The Dream Team
The film is helmed by Oscar-winning director Bill Condon, who previously brought us Chicago and Dreamgirls—so you already know the musical numbers will be serving drama, sequins, and enough jazz hands to power a Broadway revival. And if that wasn’t enough star power, J.Lo is also an executive producer, alongside none other than her ex-husband Ben Affleck and his BFF Matt Damon. Because nothing says amicable co-parenting like producing a movie together about a woman who literally destroys people with her kisses.
Fashion Alert!
Of course, J.Lo didn’t just attend the film’s Sundance premiere—she slayed it. Our queen graced the red carpet in a jaw-dropping spider-web dress, proving once again that she can make anything look couture (even arachnids). If there was an Oscar for “Best Dressed Person to Ever Exist,” she would’ve already won.
So mark your calendars, warm up those vocal cords, and get ready for Kiss of the Spider Woman—the movie that will have you laughing, crying, and possibly avoiding kisses altogether.
