Halsey has just dropped a brand-new song, and it’s a doozy!
The 29-year-old “Lucky” superstar has unleashed “Lonely is the Muse” upon the world this Thursday (August 15), and it’s like she’s dusted off her old rock gear, teamed up with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and decided to jam with Bring Me The Horizon for a nostalgia trip. If rock had a high school reunion, this track would be the one showing up with a leather jacket and a mischievous grin.
In the song, Halsey gets all philosophical, saying things like, “I always knew I was a martyr and that Jesus was one too, but I was built from special pieces that I learned how to unscrew / And I can always reassemble to fit perfectly for you or anybody that decides that I’m of use.” In other words, she’s basically a spiritual IKEA flatpack, ready to be reassembled however you like!
She gave fans a sneak peek of the track while rocking out at the Sziget Festival in Budapest and the Flow Festival in Helsinki. Then, she dropped it like it’s hot at a secret gig at Koko in London last night (August 14) — her first gig there since 2015. It was like a surprise party where the surprise is that you get to hear an epic new song!
This jam is the third single from her upcoming fifth studio album, following “Lucky” and “The End.” So buckle up, because it looks like Halsey’s not slowing down anytime soon!
