Gracie Abrams is back at it again, dropping emotional bangers like it’s her full-time job (which, to be fair, it is). Her latest track, Death Wish, has arrived, and spoiler alert: it’s basically a lyrical roast session dedicated to one truly insufferable ex.
Now, before you ask, no, Gracie didn’t personally date this human red flag. Instead, she borrowed some tea from a friend who, unfortunately, had the misfortune of dating what she calls a “mega narcissist.” (Yikes. Thoughts and prayers.)
The song originally made its grand debut in March 2025 at the O2 Arena during Gracie’s The Secret of Us Tour. Fast forward to April 1st (no joke, we checked), and she decided the world deserved to hear it. Honestly, a public service.
Before the first live performance, Gracie set the scene:
“This song is about a friend of mine who recently was dating, like, a mega narcissist…a sincere friend of mine was recently dating someone who kind of sucked. And I was listening to them talk about it a lot, and so this song is about that!”
Translation: Sometimes your bestie dates a walking 🚩, and instead of just offering emotional support, you write a whole song about it.
But wait, there’s more! On March 31st, Gracie took to Instagram to bless fans with a live recording clip, announcing that the actual live version would be available that night.
“This is the first and only time I’ve played this song, but I wanted you to have this version before anything else. Thank you to everyone who was in the room that night. I love you and I miss you and maybe you’ll be able to hear yourself in the recording x,” she wrote.
