Ellen Pompeo is out here breaking a sweat and breaking the silence on a deeply serious issue: people still think she’s Meredith Grey.
The 55-year-old actress — yes, FIFTY-FIVE and still hiking like she’s training for the Olympics of chill — was recently spotted doing the most L.A. thing imaginable: power-walking with her hubby, Chris Ivery, up to the Griffith Observatory, a.k.a. where Angelenos pretend they’re outdoorsy but still want city views and a solid Instagram pic.
And just a day earlier, she was seen grabbing a coffee while serving up “beige but make it fashion” in a full tan ‘fit. It’s giving “don’t talk to me until I’ve had my oat milk latte.”
But the real drama isn’t on the trails or the sidewalk — it’s in the names, y’all. In a juicy little radio interview (shout out Magic Radio), Ellen confessed something that’s been low-key bugging her for, oh, I dunno… two decades?
Brace yourself: she does NOT love it when fans call her Meredith.
“I’m so grateful for the show. I’m so grateful for the fans and I love them,” she said, warming us up with some sweet sweet flattery. But then came the kicker — “but to be honest, when people do call me Meredith, I do get a little annoyed.”
Translation: Ellen Pompeo is not here for your fictional-friend energy. She’s not out here hiking L.A. trails just to be called a character who’s been through 17 seasons of emotional trauma, plane crashes, and somehow… like, 12 different love interests.
“I love that you love the show, but please call me by my right name,” she added, gently reminding us that she is, in fact, a real human being and not just a walking, talking hospital monologue.
Still, Ellen keeps it classy (as always) and admits she’s not that mad, because she knows it all comes from a place of obsessive, medically-themed affection. Bless her.
