In the latest episode of “What Will Donald Trump Yell About Next?”, the former President has officially entered his supervillain era, this time aiming his fury at none other than America’s pop princess, Taylor Swift. Yes, you read that correctly. The man who once had nuclear codes now has a new enemy, and it’s the woman responsible for your Spotify Wrapped being 90% breakup songs.
At the ripe old age of 78, Trump is out here tossing verbal grenades like it’s a new sport. His most recent outburst was triggered by Taylor—34 and still winning at life—after she casually dropped her support for Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 election. In true Trump fashion, he took to his version of a diary, Truth Social, and screamed to the heavens in caps-lock fury, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Because, clearly, that’s the mature response when a pop star has an opinion about politics.
Now, for those blissfully unaware, this isn’t Trump’s first Swiftie scandal. Oh no, back in August, the former commander-in-chief thought it’d be a brilliant idea to use AI to create a fake endorsement from the “Shake It Off” singer. Because when you’re running for president again, what better strategy than crafting fan fiction about Taylor Swift rooting for you?
Taylor, never one to stay quiet (she’s got bridges to burn and people to call out, after all), swiftly (pun intended) addressed the deepfake fiasco. “Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site,” she said, possibly while side-eyeing her cats in disbelief. “It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.” Which is a classy way of saying, “Bro, I don’t even like your music, let alone your policies.”
The Grammy-winning pop star didn’t stop there, though. She followed up with the perfect mic drop, reminding the world that combating misinformation is easy: just tell the truth. Which, to Trump, must sound like nails on a chalkboard.
2024: the year when presidential campaigns include AI-generated fake friendships and celebrity feuds. What’s next, Trump feuding with Beyoncé? Oh wait… don’t give him ideas.
