🚨 WARNING: SPOILERS & NECROMANCY AHEAD! 🚨
Ghostface might need to take a break because David Arquette is making an impossible comeback in Scream 7! Yes, you read that right—Deputy Dewey Riley is back, baby! Apparently, death is just a minor inconvenience in Hollywood.
The 53-year-old legend of law enforcement (and surviving stab wounds) is set to return alongside OGs like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Scott Foley, and Matthew Lillard. That’s right—two characters who were definitely killed off (Matthew and Scott) are also back, proving once again that the Scream franchise runs on pure chaos and a complete disregard for mortality.
Wait… Didn’t Dewey Get Absolutely Wrecked in Scream 5?
Yes. Yes, he did. In fact, he was brutally taken out by Amber Freeman (played by Oscar-winner Mikey Madison) in a scene so intense, it had longtime fans sobbing into their popcorn. But apparently, that was just a “minor setback.”
Details on how Dewey is back (ghost? hallucination? long-lost twin? resurrected by a horror-movie fairy godmother?) are top secret. But let’s be real—if Jason Voorhees can keep coming back after getting obliterated multiple times, why not Dewey?
The ‘Dead’ Keep Rising
But wait, there’s more! Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard are ALSO coming back, despite both their characters getting absolutely annihilated in Scream 3 and Scream 1, respectively. Are we just throwing logic out the window at this point? Yes. And we love it.
Dewey, of course, was once married to Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox)—who is also returning to probably yell at him for “playing dead” for this long. Not to mention, Dewey was the one who took down Scott Foley’s Roman Bridger, AKA Sidney Prescott’s surprise half-brother, in Scream 3. Awkward reunion incoming!
What Does This Mean for Scream 7?
One thing’s for sure—this movie is going to be wild. Is Ghostface just reanimating past victims now? Are we in the Fast & Furious timeline where no one actually dies? Or is Dewey just so determined to bumble his way through another murder spree that even death couldn’t stop him?
We’ll have to wait and see. But one thing is clear: Scream 7 is about to be one of the most ridiculous, chaotic, and highly anticipated horror sequels of all time.
Ghostface, buddy… good luck. You’re gonna need it.
