Talk about gutsy! Burglars tried to pull off a heist royale near Prince William and Princess Kate’s Windsor Castle digs. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t exactly Ocean’s Eleven material.
The royal-adjacent shenanigans took place at Shaw Farm, part of the Windsor Castle grounds, on October 13. Two brilliant criminal masterminds decided to channel their inner parkour stars, scaling a six-foot fence. But it gets better—they used a stolen truck to smash through a security gate like they were auditioning for Fast & Furious: Crown Estate Drift.
Who Was Home?
Our beloved Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (fine, Prince William and Princess Kate for the formal) were reportedly at their cozy Adelaide Cottage with their royal trio: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. Meanwhile, King Charles III and Queen Camilla were globetrotting in Scotland and India. Guess the burglars didn’t check Find My Monarch before planning their caper.
The Great Escape
According to Thames Valley Police (and possibly some very annoyed farmers), the bandits raided a farm building, swiped a black Isuzu pick-up truck and a red quad bike (because apparently, this is Mario Kart now), and bolted toward Old Windsor/Datchet. The truck, the quad bike, and the burglars remain at large.
“At around 11:45 p.m. on October 13, we got a call about a burglary on Crown Estate land near the A308,” said a police spokesperson, who likely had to stifle a giggle while explaining the stolen farm vehicles of choice.
No arrests yet, but the investigation is ongoing. Perhaps the thieves are hiding out, hoping nobody notices the black Isuzu parked suspiciously near the local pub.
Back to Royal Duties
In brighter news, Kate Middleton recently returned to the public eye alongside Prince William for a Remembrance Day event. Because nothing says “unshaken by farm-raiding shenanigans” like rocking a perfect poppy pin and a regal wave.
Stay tuned for updates—because who wouldn’t want to know how this saga of fences, farm gear, and criminal mediocrity ends?
