Hold onto your broomsticks! A new featurette for the Wicked movies has dropped, and it’s got enough fresh footage to make a flying monkey do the cha-cha!
In a revelation as magical as a talking scarecrow, director Jon M Chu spills the enchanted beans about how they decided to build actual, real-life sets for the land of Oz. That’s right, no CGI wizardry here! They went old school and built the whole shebang, making sure Oz was as tangible as a munchkin’s cookie jar.
“We knew that we wanted Wicked to be immersive. What’s it feel like to be in Oz? To feel it in your fingertips. If you want to be inside that world, you got to build it. You got to build Emerald City. You got to build Munchkinland,” says Jon, probably while clicking his ruby slippers together.
In this featurette, we also get to hear from the spellbinding leading ladies, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Plus, there’s more footage of Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, and Ethan Slater than you can shake a wand at.
Fans will be especially thrilled to catch a glimpse of Marissa as Nessarose and Ethan as Boq. These two have been as elusive as a flying pig in the previous trailers, but now they’re front and center, ready to dazzle and delight!
So, get your popcorn, practice your cackles, and get ready to be transported to the glittering, mystical, and hilariously real land of Oz!
