Austin Butler just added another fancy title to his resume: Officially Cool Watch Guy. The Oscar-nominated heartthrob has been named the latest brand ambassador for Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling. And to celebrate, he did what any self-respecting, ultra-cool celebrity would do—hopped on a motorcycle and smoldered into the camera.
Austin is the face of Breitling’s new Top Time campaign, which, according to him, is all about living life on the edge, being free, and exuding pure rock ‘n’ roll energy. Translation: If Indiana Jones and Elvis had a love child, it would be Austin Butler in this campaign.
“Breitling, for me, is about adventure and pushing the limits of what’s possible,” Austin said in a statement, while probably adjusting his leather jacket and gazing wistfully into the distance. “The Top Time speaks to the way I’ve always wanted to live my life: free and ready to rock ‘n’ roll.” In other words, if this watch could sing, it would be doing a flawless Elvis impression right now.
The campaign photos show Austin riding a motorcycle like a man who knows exactly what time it is (because he’s wearing a very expensive watch). This is extra fitting since he starred in The Bikeriders last year, a movie in which he also rode motorcycles and brooded like it was his full-time job.
As if that wasn’t enough coolness to handle, Austin revealed to GQ that he might collaborate with Breitling to design a watch himself. “We haven’t discussed this yet, but I’m sure we’ll see,” he said, probably while casually spinning a watch between his fingers like a total pro. “The more I get into all the details, the more I want to learn. I love it all.”
So, get ready. If Austin ends up designing a watch, it’s probably going to come with a built-in leather jacket, a motorcycle mode, and the ability to make you look at least 37% cooler just by putting it on.
