A$AP Rocky is back with a brand new jam—and it’s hotter than a stolen meme! On Friday (August 30), the 35-year-old rap dynamo dropped his latest track, “Tailor Swif,” which may or may not be a sneaky shoutout to everyone’s favorite pop queen, Taylor Swift. That’s right, Rocky went there, and he’s swifter than a cat on roller skates.
In this lyrical masterpiece, Rocky spits: “I’m too swift, don’t tell Taylor ’bout this s–t (Swift, yeah) / I’m too swift, now don’t tell Taylor ’bout this s–t (Yeah, wetty).” If that left you confused, welcome to the club. Apparently, in the world of rap, Swift rhymes with…well, pretty much anything if you try hard enough. (Also, wetty? We’re still Googling that.)
The song first made its way into the wild like a rogue raccoon at a picnic—via a leak, of course—after Rocky gave the Rolling Loud Portugal crowd a live preview back in July 2022. Back then, it was sneakily labeled “Wetty,” because why not keep the public guessing, right?
Naturally, the song stirred up a bit of controversy. I mean, referencing Taylor Swift? That’s like playing hopscotch in a minefield. Swifties everywhere clutched their pearls while Rocky debated whether to include this track on his upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb—a title that feels like sound advice for anyone casually name-dropping Taylor.
In the end, Rocky caved to the pressure and decided to serve up the leaked track on a silver platter. His reasoning? “SINCE U DUMMIES LEAKED IT ALREADY,” he graciously tweeted, along with a snippet of the music video filmed in Ukraine, because of course, it was shot in Ukraine. Where else would you film a song referencing Taylor Swift? Disney World?
A$AP Rocky’s “Tailor Swif” is here to stay, and we can’t wait to see if Taylor responds with a diss track, or maybe just a strongly-worded Instagram story. Either way, we’re grabbing the popcorn!
