Ariana Grande dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to dazzle the audience with her new single “The Boy is Mine” and to hype up her upcoming movie, Wicked.
The 30-year-old pop sensation and part-time fairy godmother graced the late-night stage on Thursday (June 6), dishing out some juicy gossip about her Wicked adventures and reminiscing about her childhood encounter with the legendary Kristin Chenoweth.
Diving into all things Wicked, Ariana was practically floating on a cloud of excitement. “It felt soooo good to finally unleash the trailer and start sharing the project with the world,” she exclaimed. “It was like holding onto a secret for ages, and now everyone’s like, ‘Yaaas, queen!’ The love has been unreal.”
She continued, giggling like a kid who just found the cookie jar, “The funniest part? People keep asking me, ‘Isn’t it weird seeing all the special effects now?’ And I’m like, ‘Honey, yes, they threw in some flying monkeys and magical critters, but we were living the fairy tale with these epic sets! It was like Hogwarts, but cooler.’”
Ariana also took a trip down memory lane, recalling her fangirl moment with Kristin and other Wicked stars like Idina Menzel when she was just 10.
“My mom went all out and spoiled me rotten,” she said. “We saw the original Broadway cast, and during the Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS auction, I kept bidding to go backstage. My mom was like, ‘Ariana, honey, stop,’ but I was determined.”
Her persistence paid off big time, as she ended up in Kristin’s dressing room. “She let me hang out way past my welcome,” Ariana laughed. “Her dog peed on the couch, and we cleaned it up together like it was a normal Tuesday. Kristin even sent me home with a wand and some glittery shower gel – I felt like a sparkly wizard!”
