Apple TV+ Drops First Look at Julianne Moore & Sydney Sweeney in ‘Echo Valley’—A Mother-Daughter Drama with a Side of Chaos

Buy Me A Coffee

Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney are teaming up as a mother-daughter duo in Apple TV+’s upcoming thriller Echo Valley, and judging by the first-look photos, things are about to get very intense. And by “intense,” we mean “Sydney Sweeney shows up covered in blood, and Julianne Moore has to do some serious mom-ing to fix it.”

The film is described as an “edge-of-your-seat thriller,” which is Hollywood’s way of saying, you will be so stressed out that you forget to check your phone for a full two hours. It’s also a “gripping tale of love, sacrifice, and survival,” which translates to “Julianne Moore is about to make some extremely questionable decisions in the name of motherly devotion.”

So, what’s going down? Well, Moore plays Kate, a mother just trying to keep it together—until her daughter Claire (Sweeney) shows up looking like she just walked off the set of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. She’s hysterical, she’s covered in someone else’s blood (not a good sign!), and suddenly, Kate finds herself in the middle of a situation that is way above her pay grade. As she scrambles to figure out what in the true crime podcast is going on, she realizes just how far a mom will go to protect her kid. Spoiler alert: very far.

The film also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Kyle MacLachlan, Edmund Donovan, and Fiona Shaw, because what’s a dramatic thriller without at least one mysterious supporting character lurking ominously in the background? Directed by Beast’s Michael Pearce and written by Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby, Echo Valley is guaranteed to deliver drama, twists, and at least one moment where you yell at your screen, “GIRL, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”

Catch the chaos when Echo Valley hits Apple TV+ on June 13. And maybe call your mom—just to let her know you won’t be showing up at her house covered in blood anytime soon.
